Family food-ventures

There is a special kind of joy to be experienced when you meet up with your chosen family in a city that holds a special place in their heart.

I’ve been to Boston several times in my life, and each time was enjoyable. This time, my friend and sister C invited me to join her in her favorite city, and took me to some of her favorite places. We sat together across tables of excellent food and walked beside each other around this beautiful city. She told me stories—some longer, more heartfelt versions of stories that I had heard before—but each one special because I got to watch my friend, my chosen sister, positively light up in telling them. I got to hear the sheer excitement in her voice when she’d say “We could go [here]” and “Ooh! We have to do [this]!”

Love your people. Let them take you to their favorite places and show you all that makes them light up from within. Listen to their stories. Let their joy bring you joy.

And if you can, get yourself a sister-friend to show you the best way to eat your face off when you have 2.5 days in Boston.
